Bardessono – Yountville
November 12, 2012
I just went to a little birthday shindig in Napa Valley at an incredible hotel…Bardessono. Very high end, very luxurious, very cool. It’s like having your own swanky apartment for R&R in between tastings. Earthy, modern, with your own fireplace and patio. Be sure to book an in- suite massage. It also has a cool bar scene where you can finally order a vodka or a beer (you can only drink so much wine, no?) And a rooftop pool and heated whirlpool. Most dreamy hotel I’ve been to in ages.

Digg’s Taco Shop – Dallas
October 25, 2012
So I guess I’m not writing as often as I’d like at the moment, but I am eating. And at the moment I cannot get enough of Digg’s Taco Shop, right across the street from SMU on Hillcrest. I would have been there every night had it been around when I was in college. For those of you around my age–I promise you will not be the oldest person there. It generally does have its fair share of students, but I also always see families and couples on date night. Do not miss the brisket tacos, but they also have mahi and vegetarian options in addition to the usual (although still delicious) chicken and beef variations. We are averaging once a week at the moment. And we have not even tried the margaritas yet.

Hiltl – Zurich
October 4, 2012

Just back from Zurich, and what I wouldn’t do to have a restaurant like Hiltl here at home. It is the oldest all vegetarian restaurant in Europe, and features a by-the-pound food bar of all sorts of incredible vegetarian offerings. I could not get enough of the hummus, spring rolls, and fried rice, but there were a lot of other more sophisticated options. It is a very kid-friendly restaurant, but also has an adult-friendly bar/nightclub on one side. Yes, they somehow do it all, and it is all good. So good I went three times in four days.

Tamar Mogendorff fabric art
September 4, 2012

I’ve received two emails today about this blog, so you guys must still want to read about new finds despite my extended vacation from writing lately. So here it is, a new obsession I almost want to keep to myself it’s so good. Tamar Mogendorff’s fabric creations. I found them at ABC Carpet and Home in New York, and I’m not going to admit how many pieces I bought for the baby’s room. I seriously cannot get enough. Check out the gallery of photos and shop online at www.tmogy.com.
Kimmi Peacock Now at Tru Salon – Dallas
August 21, 2012
Some of “my people” have moved. The ones I go to for very important things, like my hair, and workouts. So for those of you who have taken me up on my recommendation to try Kimmi Peacock, genius of cutting and styling hair, she is now at Tru Salon. Just don’t take all of the appointment times. I still need to get in. Often. Thanks.

Start Restaurant – Dallas
August 19, 2012

Alright loyal readers, I’m sorry for the lack of posts lately. Really. The babies and the move and slow internet connections and summer vacation and life. You know how it is. I am going to try to get back on my regular post schedule. So let’s start with some of my favorite finds. Some new, some old. Here’s a new restaurant concept that’s time had come. I was considering starting my own restaurant, simply because I am so tired of all the terribly unhealthy kids’ menus. Kids pretty much all love chicken. And it’s almost always fried and who knows what else. So here is one place where it isn’t. Start. A fast food restaurant without the “fast food.” Hormone-free and mostly organic menu options. A lot of things that relatively health-conscious adults will like (breakfast burritos with cage-free/organic eggs, quinoa salad, veggie/quinoa burger, hummus, grass-fed beef burgers, etc.) And the kids can eat baked and breaded or grilled chicken without the hormones, or p and jam, or cheese pizza on whole wheat flat bread, etc. We tried it and had a great experience. Plus, it’s nicely designed. Read more here and definitely check it out for yourselves and your kiddos. Photo from Pegasus News.

Tiny Sprouts Personalized Baby and Toddler Clothing
August 1, 2012
I LOVE LOVE LOVE finding a goto source for baby gifts, and Tiny Sprouts has exactly what I like to send new arrivals. Super chic and soft baby and toddler clothes and blankets all with the option of personalizing with names or initials. And while I was “researching,” I couldn’t resist ordering this ensemble for my own new arrival.
