Santa left a little trinket in my stocking that has a great story behind it. All of pieces made by Love Heals are handmade in California and benefit one of three charities. From the Greener Ethiopia collection, each piece sold translates to 10 trees planted. Sales from the Vitamin Angels collection provide nutrients to children in need. And the Generation Rescue collection benefits children with Autism. This makes me love my necklace even more. Thank you, Mr. Claus!

I’m back after a really bummer week. If you, like me, need a little distraction, you might head to the trunk show and personal appearance of jewelry designer Kimberly McDonald today at Forty Five Ten in Dallas. She’s the one who makes those gorgeous geode and gemstone pieces, including the subtle sliced diamond ring that barely ever leaves my right hand. Not sure if this piece is an earring or a necklace, but WOW:

Pendleton Woolen Mills, a century-old Pacific Northwest company known for it’s Native American inspired blankets, rugs, and apparel, has teamed up with three Portland-based designers to debut a more fashionable line–The Portland Collection–which still embodies the classic heritage of Pendleton. It caught my eye in a few fashion magazines, and when the new Anthrolopolgie catalog arrived, there is was again.

Vintage killim rugs and leather boots: two of my favorite, yet usually unrelated, things. Thankfully a stylish young couple in Amsterdam has combined these two elements (as was first done in the hippie 60s) in a line of handcrafted boots for women and men called Kiboots. Since each is unique, the hard part is picking a pair. I couldn’t decide, so I let my husband choose one night after several margaritas. They just arrived and I am very content with his selection (thank you, M Crowd). Now if the temp would just dip below a thousand degrees….
