Wow. It’s been a week already?! I’m obviously a bit behind on posting (and everything else). Thanks for sticking with me as I get through the new baby phase. And the 3-year-old phase! In the meantime, you can read about my friend Jenny Kirtland’s beauty secrets, The Gem Juice Bar, and Samudra clutches, in my May page for Dallas Child.

When Neiman’s starts carrying your line, you know you’re doing something right. My friend Lisa started a cool sun conscious clothing line, Cover, made of certified UPF 50+ fabric. The pieces are perfect for providing extra protection from UV rays while you’re chillin’ at the pool, running errands, watching the kiddos’ lacrosse games, etc. Such a great idea, and really exciting that Neiman’s picked up some of the pieces. Read more here. Shop the collection at NM here.

What’s better than one bag with two uses? iPad cover by day, clutch by night = genius. By Lizzie Fortunato at VOD.

Seems like I’ve given you a lot of shopping-related posts lately. There’s probably a couple of reasons for that. 1) I just finished a big story about custom clothing for the April issue of D Magazine. I’m also super excited to announce that I am now writing a monthly page for Dallas Child magazine, which will feature cool content for moms, including a lot of fashion and beauty recommendations. All this means that I’ve been at the stores a bit more than usual lately. 2) I am really over being pregnant, and am desperate to ditch my maternity clothes and get on with it. Of course, while I can’t fit in anything, I’ve discovered some cool new brands. Today, I present you with Maison Olga. I just saw the shipment at VOD and probably would have bought the whole lot could I try it on. Guess maybe it is better that I’ve got a few more weeks of maternity tees.
In this last one it’s all about the headband!

So am I the only one with the fantasy of being a surfer girl somewhere on the West Coast, with a super casual lifestyle and a little abode on the beach? I think I’d still be wearing OP if the brand was still around and available in adult sizes. Guess that’s why I love these fabric travel bags/clutches with their beach-themed prints. Great gift idea too. $60 at Forty Five Ten by surfer chic jewelry designer, Sara Beltran. Hang ten, y’all!
NOTE: I just found out that OP is still around, although I didn’t see anything on their site like the clothes I remember from my much younger days.

First of all, the brand name is so cool. The Office of Angela Scott. The Dallas designer, Angela Scott, and her namesake line of handmade shoes, are equally cool (and interesting, and stylish, and the perfect mix of masculine and feminine). I happened to be at the right place (VOD) at the right time (when Angela showed up with her fall 2012 collection) and let’s just say you are going to be hearing a lot about The Office of Angela Scott. Totally intellectual chic. And the craftsmanship on each pair is incredible. My favorite fall boot has rose gold accents. Rose gold. On shoes! Here’s a peek at some of what’s in store for fall:
And an example from the spring collection available now…
Oh those monogrammed soles! I think this description from her website best sums up her process and style:
